Labocine | Head of Video (2019–2021)
Labocine is a streaming platform and online publication focused on the intersection of cinema and science. Its monthly issues curated short films, documentaries, and feature-length works around scientific themes and concepts, creating a space where research and storytelling could meet.

My role combined editorial, creative, technical, and marketing responsibilities during the platform’s monthly publishing cycle.
Video Production & Editing
Each month, I edited a trailer to introduce the issue’s scientific theme and highlight its featured films. These were distributed across Labocine’s website, newsletter, and social media channels.

The approach was consistent: every clip in the trailer had to reinforce the theme of that issue in some way. Interesting associations between clips make a trailer that’s fun to watch and draws the audience in. It was equally important that each trailer communicated the novelty of Labocine and positioned the service as a unique product, so I worked carefully to connect scientific concepts to a strong, specific mood.

It was very important for the trailers to communicate the novelty of Labocine and to position the streaming service as a unique product on the market. I aimed to carefully set the atmosphere for each trailer to connect scientific concepts to a strong mood.
Newsletter & Editorial Communication - The Weekly Waves
I wrote and designed the weekly newsletter, The Weekly Waves, in Mailchimp. Each issue communicated new releases, editorial features, and platform updates to Labocine’s international audience. I was on the lookout for interesting news that intersected with filmmaking and a scientific interest.
Social Media & Audience Growth
I managed Labocine’s Instagram presence, creating visual content and promotional assets for social media. I also set up and ran Facebook ad campaigns to support monthly issue launches and grow the platform’s reach.

Workflow Automation
To streamline trailer production, I wrote a custom script that automatically downloaded all films associated with a given issue into an organized local workflow. Using the Python libraries BeautifulSoup and Selenium, the script handled login authentication and browser automation to access videos behind a paywall. What had previously required manual downloading was reduced to running a single script, saving up to two hours per issue.
